United States Radiology & Imaging Sciences Graduate Programs & Schools
Why should you earn a degree from a radiology graduate school? Individuals who earn a radiologist degree use radiologic and imaging sciences to help other medical professionals diagnose and treat a wide array of illnesses and disorders. Students in radiology graduate programs use imaging technology such as, X-rays, ultrasounds, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to diagnose and treat disease seen within the body. Medical imaging is the process of creating visual representations of the interior of a body for clinical analysis and medical intervention. If you are interested in the human body, technology in medicine, and how it can be used to treat disease, a degree in radiology might be right for you.
There are many different types of graduate degrees offered through radiology graduate programs. Students might want to earn a doctor of medicine degree with a specialization in radiology, neuroradiology, or pediatric radiology, or they might want to earn a master of science in biomedical imaging (MSBI).
Radiology graduate schools provide specialized training in obtaining and interpreting medical images and delivering treatments for diseases by means of radiation. A radiologist degree might prepare you to work with some of the most technologically advanced equipment in the medical field while teaching you the fundamentals of radiology, safety, and patient care. Radiology graduate programs might teach you basic medical terminology and practices along with core curriculum in radiologic sciences. Clinical training might also be provided through laboratory simulations or radiology externships where students work with patients under the supervision of doctors, nurses and experienced radiologic technologists.
