There are many levels of anestheology depending on where you are in your current career. During surgery or other medical procedures, anesthesiologists are responsible for administering drugs to reduce or eliminate pain. Some other job responsibilities of anesthesiologists include: adjusting the amount of anesthetic as needed; monitoring patient heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and body temperature; and working with other doctors to decide on treatments and procedures prior to, during and after surgery. An anestheologist may be a nurse anesthetist (CRNA), a Doctor of Anesthesia Practice (DrNP) or a Anesthesiologist Assistant. For each of these types of roles, there are different Anesthesiology Graduate Programs to choose from.
