PhD Biostatistics

Format: Campus

Program Description:

MCW’s Biostatistics PhD program provides students with the opportunity to learn and gain experience in collaborative statistical analysis and research design through consultative services. The Division of Biostatistics within MCW’s Institute for Health & Equity supports partners such as the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research and the Center for Patient Care and Outcomes Research.

Students interested in Biostatistics at MCW can apply directly to the program on an annual basis. All admitted students start in the Fall and progress through a 2 ½ year core curriculum, some of which include joint courses with UW-Milwaukee’s Department of Mathematical Sciences. A preliminary, tailor-made exam at the end of the third year will be required for further progression in the program, will a final dissertation showcasing original research required for graduation.

All full-time, degree-seeking PhD students at MCW receive a generous financial aid package, including full tuition remission, a stipend of over $29,000/year, and complimentary health insurance (including vision & dental). Average time to degree completion for all MCW PhD students is 5 ½ years. MCW as an institution has the lowest faculty-to-student ration in the world (0.6 students for every 1 faculty member).
