Program Description:

Building on a foundation that places today’s educational challenges in historical and social context, the Master of Education (EdM) program offers opportunities for specialization in a growing number of fields including English Language Learners (ELL), Literacy Education, and Special Education (SpEd). Endorsements in ELL, SpEd, Reading, and Middle-level Math can be pursued with the EdM program.  We also offer Professional Certification within the master's program. The EdM program emphasizes reflective analysis as well as professional competence.The EdM program is housed in the Department of Teaching and Learning of the College of Education.

Courses are offered in the evenings during the public school year to accommodate working teachers and on a variable condensed schedule during the summer. Students cannot complete the program by taking courses during summer semesters only. Most students complete the program in 2 1/2 years but may take up to 6 years in accordance with Graduate School policy.
