Master of Public Health (MPH)
Bastyr University’s Master of Public Health (MPH) with a Specialization in Community Health Education gives students the knowledge and skills to succeed in public health and community health education settings. The program prepares students to become certified as Community Health Education Specialists (CHES).
The MPH program includes 63 credits of coursework addressing five core competency areas: biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health sciences, health policy and management, and social and behavioral sciences. The curriculum includes specialized courses and practical experience that enable students to develop competency in community health education.
Students in the program complete a practicum and a capstone project under the supervision of dedicated faculty. A social justice perspective is woven throughout the curriculum, and a quarterly seminar provides a deliberate forum for considering issues through a social justice lens.
The program’s hybrid-evening format accommodates traditional students and working professionals who desire non-traditional course scheduling.
