Program Description:

The School of Strategic Leadership Studies develops organizational leaders through rigorous theoretical study, coupled with practical application through experiential learning. This innovative doctor of philosophy program offers concentrations in: 

  • Nonprofit and Community Leadership for careers in nonprofit management, public administration, academic instruction and research, consulting, and leadership
  • Organizational Science and Leadership for careers in human resource management, academic instruction and research, management consulting, and organizational leadership
  • Postsecondary Analysis and Leadership for careers in college and university administration, academic instruction and research, consulting, and policy

The program emphasizes business principles, accountability, and leadership theory and applications, which are all areas of reform that national groups have touted as important for current and future leaders in educational, nonprofit, and corporate organizations. Students will be instructed in management principles and in the broader visionary perspectives necessary for effective leadership roles. The program emphasizes practical applications, yet is grounded in sophisticated research skills that are needed for data-based decision-making models in current practice.
