Program Description:

Students in the Peace Operations program tackle issues as wide and various as humanitarian assistance; repatriation; resettlement of refugees; elections assistance; support for rule of law, and demobilization, disarmament and reintegration of ex-combatants. Integrating these issues in an innovative curriculum, the Peace Operations program instructs students and practicing professionals in the planning, regulation, management, and conduct of peace operations. The program offers students functional knowledge in the theory, policy, law, and research practices needed to understand and participate in these complex undertakings. Working closely with experienced national and international faculty members, students learn to think critically and analytically about the problems and challenges facing efforts to mitigate regional conflicts. Investigating and developing successful personal communication techniques, they learn to effectively share analyses and proposals for solutions through both written and oral presentations.
