Program Description:
We are a CAATE-accredited Graduate Entry-level Athletic Training Program offering a Master of Science in Athletic Training. It is a two year program comprised of 60 credit hours that begins during the summer II session. Application deadline is February 1st of the calendar year, with a March notification of candidate status.
Curriculum requirements consist of lecture/laboratories that are aligned with required clinical experiences Our clinical experiences consist of the host institution's sports, strength and conditioning, high schools, orthopedics / surgical observations, physical therapy, emergency medicine, and general medicine. Classes usually are offered in the mornings allowing the student to attend afternoon clinical courses.
Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the Texas Athletic Training licensing examination, along with the Board of Certification national examination. We have had 100% job placement on varying levels from junior high school to the NFL. This current cohort, class of 2009, had a 100% (5/5) first attempt pass rate on the Texas state licensing examination. Our last graduating cohort (2008) had a 60% (5/8) first attempt pass rate, above the national average, on the BOC national examination.
