Ph.D. - Translational Biology & Molecular Medicine
The Translational Biology and Molecular Medicine (TBMM) graduate program offers a unique interdisciplinary training that integrates basic science with clinical investigation. Our goal is to educate and train students to become leaders in translational research who can effectively move basic science discoveries into clinical care and identify clinically significant questions to study in the laboratory. Students are mentored by experienced basic science mentors working in stateof-the-art translational research laboratories together with clinical mentors in the world’s largest medical center. TBMM students are well prepared to pursue career paths that include academic research andteaching, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical research.
Core courses such as Pathophysiology and Mechanisms of Human Disease, Animal Models of Human Disease, Method and Logic of Translational Biology, Ethics and Conduct of Clinical Research, Introduction to Leadership, and a TBMM Bench to Bedside series are designed to provide knowledge of fundamental concepts and to prepare students for careers in translational research. Guided by their clinical mentors, students will participate in clinical research.
