Master of Science in Geosciences
The Master of Science degree program in Geosciences is designed to provide a broad and detailed education in the area of geospatial analysis and paleontology while developing a broad-based set of research skill. Areas of particular interest to the faculty include cultural geography, geomorphology, hydrology and watershed management, GIS use and training, meteorology, physical geography, remote sensing, sedimentary depositional systems, shallow-surface geophysics, soil engineering, vertebrate paleontology, and volcanic and tsunami hazard assessment. Students are encourages to publish their thesis projects and additional research projects in peer-reviewed outlets. Successful students completing the M.S. program are encouraged to seek doctoral programs and enter the job market in management, scientific and technical consulting industry.
