M.S. CIVIL ENGINEERING
Students will be motivated to grow intellectually through the continued search for and use of knowledge, and will be provided the catalyst to become active, articulate, socially aware individuals, and key contributors to the civil engineering profession.
Students may choose to complete a research (thesis or research project) or non-research (coursework only) option.

The M.S. in Civil Engineering can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Students can fulfill the degree requirements by either completing the research (master’s thesis or research project) or non-research (coursework-only) option. Alternatively, students may complete a 3 semester hour research project carried out in conjunction with an industrial partner, or a project of interest to a faculty mentor. Students can also complete a coursework-only option with the permission of the department graduate coordinator.
International Student Requirements:
For applicants whose native language is not English – a minimum score of 213 on the computer-based test, 550 on the paper-based test, and 79 on the internet-based test on the TOEFL, or a 6.5 on the academic version of the IELTS is required.
International applicants must submit an official transcripts and a copy of the degree, diploma, or certificate awarded whereby the academic institution validates completion and conferral. Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions must be submitted for the applicant by the university, even if only one course was taken. Applicants who attended institutions that do not issue complete academic records in English must submit official copies of native language records and literal translations into English prepared by an appropriate university or government official.
