Master of Health Science in Nurse Anesthesia, Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice
Saint Vincent College, in collaboration with Excela Health School of Anesthesia, offers one of the nation’s few doctoral completion programs in nurse anesthesia, meeting future expectations of the health care industry today.
TheDoctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice program prepares the certified, registered nurse anesthetist (C.R.N.A.) to serve in leadership roles within the health care system. The curriculum promotes the use of evidence-based practice as a means to prioritize direction for process change. The learner will manage a capstone project that will build as the learner progresses through each consecutive class. Projects will focus on anesthesia clinical practice, educational presentation or management improvement strategies.
In the DNAP program, begun in fall 2013, cohorts start each fall with a hybrid presentation. Students attend one week of intensive class meetings on campus each semester, and then communicate with faculty online for the completion of the course.
The small class sizes allow for individualized instruction. A one-on-one adviser will assist the learner in developing scholarly work that will build skills for future projects. The advisers are seasoned faculty who have been in the business field and/or in anesthesia practice for many years, serving in multiple roles, including military, leadership and clinical practice.
