The Master of Science in Computer Science degree program is designed to accommodate those seeking a general MS in Computer Science as well as those who want to develop professional skills in software engineering or IT leadership. While students with at least a minor in computer science are prepared to start, students who wish to transition from math, science, or engineering into computer science may be fully enrolled in the program after taking three prerequisite undergraduate courses. Ship undergraduates may obtain an advanced degree through a 4+1 BS/MS option.
The MS in Computer Science is a 30-credit hybrid program consisting of ten courses offered in the evening and online. All students complete six core courses for a total of 18 credits. The remaining 12 credits can be fulfilled with four elective courses or with four courses from one of the concentrations. There are three program options: General Program (6 core courses + 4 computer science electives), IT Leadership Concentration (6 core courses + 4 required concentration courses), Software Engineering Concentration (6 core courses + 4 required concentration courses).

International Student Requirements:
The recommended score for the TOEFL is 68 for the internet-based test or 500 for the paper-based test. (Shippensburg University's test code for the TOEFL is 2657). The recommended score for IELTS is 6.0. International applicants from a country where English is the native/official language may be exempted from the TOEFL or IELTS requirement, however the GRE or GMAT is required.
