Program Description:

The Master of Arts in Art Education with an Emphasis in Special Populations is a rigorous program that trains and empowers art educators to develop skills for adapting and implementing strategies that enrich the lives of all learners.

Our candidates develop and test innovative techniques through their action based research in a field setting, while critically assessing art education policies and documenting the study of contemporary art education issues for diverse learners. Our candidates graduate prepared to advance the development of art education.

The MA in Art Education Program is designed to be completed in four semesters / 15 months (Summer I, Fall I, Spring I, Summer II) and must be completed within 27 months (2 years and 3 months). Candidates are required to complete 9 courses totaling 30 credit hours, and must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.


Moore College of Art & Design’s accreditation was reaffirmed for a ten year period by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in June 2012. This program has received plan approval from NASAD: National Association of Schools of Art & Design.
