The mission of the Counseling Psychology Department at Eastern University is to train a diverse body of students to be competent and ethical practitioners who apply knowledge and skills gained from the thoughtful integration of the Christian faith and their respective disciplines in varied clinical and school settings. Students meet educational requirements for a variety of state and national credentials and certification. The MA in Counseling degree meets all the educational requirements for the Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor credential. Thoughtful integration of faith and counseling research and practice prepares students to understand human nature, identify problems and symptoms and implement effective interventions. Additionally, students can choose a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis Certification, which meets the educational requirements for the national Board Certified Behavior Analyst and state Licensed Behavior Specialist credentials, or Trauma Studies which prepares students to pursue post-masters training/credentialing by professional and service organizations specializing in trauma prevention, assistance, and treatment.
