Master of Arts in Education - Science Instruction

Format: Online

Program Description:

The Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Science Instruction concentrates on the four major disciplines of science: biology, chemistry, earth science and psychical science as presented from a Christian worldview. Students will develop their cognitive, analytical, and reflective thinking skills through the application of education theory, psychological principles and scientific instruction in an action research capstone experience. This specialty is appropriate for preschool, elementary, middle and secondary teachers who currently teach science, but desire to expand and update their science knowledge and skills. Wisconsin Lutheran College's Master's program in Education is designed to assist educators who seek to develop reflective practitioner and research-assessment skills and build their leadership capacity to advance professionally. Graduate students learn how to plan for educational programming, apply instructional strategies, conduct assessment, and modify practice according to the needs of the organization and individual learners - all of which is shaped and embedded within a chosen specialty area. The 36 credit degree program can be completed in less than 30 months by taking one course every eight weeks. The program culminates with a two-semester action research project and creation of a portfolio.
