Doctor of Education in Sport and Performance Psychology
Using positive and applied sport psychology, the EdD program is designed to help optimize your skills and transform your abilities to inspire and motivate others. The curriculum was designed specifically to help students complete the specialized coursework requirements to become a Certified Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP) and to become a licensed professional counselor (LPC).
EdD Coursework: The program is comprised of ten sport and performance psychology core courses, six elective courses and a culminating experience chosen from the four options below and customized to specifically to meet your career needs.

EdD Mental Health Counseling Specialization: 60-90 quarter credits
For students seeking to specialize in mental health counseling and become a licensed professional counselor (LPC), the EdD program was designed to meet the rising demand in the field and to serve as an effective way for students to pursue this goal while also earning an advanced doctoral degree. Advanced Standing for LPCs: Students who have a related counseling master’s degree or are already a licensed professional counselor automatically qualify for at least 30 credits of advanced standing toward the degree.
EdD Positive Leadership and Administration Concentration: 76 quarter credits
Positive leadership applies the principles of positive psychology to the challenges in competitive work and sport environments. This concentration is designed to help leaders and their organizations succeed through gaining understandings of human motivation and behavior (emphasizing strengths rather than limitations) to achieve extraordinary results.
