Program Description:

The M.A. and Ed.S. programs provide opportunities for candidates to acquire knowledge about P-12 educational leadership in districts and schools and policy organizations at state and national levels. The Ed.D. degree program prepares P-12 leaders to effective assume central office positions of district leadership, lead schools more effectively, and to engage in and disseminate research regarding educational practices that impact student achievement in policy development and implementation arenas. The program provides opportunities for students to develop in-depth understanding about leadership roles and responsibilities, working effectively with external environmental factors and all stakeholders, providing effective professional development to support continuous educator growth, understanding organizational behavior in order to support positive systemic change, and contemporary educational issues that must be address in order for schools to deliver a high quality 21st century education to every child. Application of leadership theories, skills, and knowledge in the world of practice is stressed throughout each program of study. Program completers are prepared to lead schools, districts, and educational policy organizations.

One option to demonstrate English Language proficiency is to successfully complete the UNC Intensive English Language Program (IEP).
