Master of Education (M.Ed.), with an emphasis in Learning and Instruction
MUÆs master of education degree, with a focus in educational leadership, was designed and intended for practicing teachers who have completed undergraduate teacher education programs and wish to pursue a masterÆs degree online. This program is composed of core courses and courses focused in educational leadership. Completion of the degree leads to Missouri Initial Principal Certification at either the elementary or secondary level. Students outside of Missouri who are interested in certification should check with their state education department for approval. The core course work includes study in learning theory, instructional technology, instructional leadership, instructional strategies and measurement and assessment, and action research. These courses are designed to enhance the process of teaching and learning in the elementary, middle or high school classroom. All core courses are online and accessible from any computer with an Internet connection. Focus area courses include a combination of online course work and campus visits. No thesis is required.
