Master of Arts in Teaching

The University of the Cumberlands offers a Master of Arts in Teaching degree program that is designed for individuals who do not have initial certification or teaching licensure. This degree is a form of alternative certification that allows an individual with a non-teaching college degree to earn both a Masters Degree and teacher certification in either elementary, middle secondary and Learning and Behavior Disorders (P-12) certification areas. The MAT requires 39 - 42 credit hours, depending upon the program of study.
