Program Description:

Cybersecurity is an increasingly important concern for government agencies, defense contractors, bio-tech research firms, and numerous other business entities that are concerned with the protection of their information capital.

UMass Lowell's Master of Science Degree in Security Studies: Cyber Security Concentration provides students with a deeper understanding of computer network security for both private and government-run organizations.

This 10-course master's degree program offers students a unique combination of graduate-level courses in two distinct disciplines: criminal justice and information technology. The core criminal justice courses provide students with the opportunity to study contemporary issues in security management and cyber crime trends. The information technology electives allow students the flexibility to choose from a broad array of computer and network security topics such as managing virtual systems, cloud computing, and digital forensics.

Courses are available throughout the year, during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters, and you can take one course each semester or a number of courses a semester, depending upon your own personal time constraints.

RESIDENTS OF Arkansas, Kansas and Minnesota: The University of Massachusetts Lowell is not presently accepting applications or registrations for online courses, degrees or certificate programs from residents of Arkansas, Kansas or Minnesota. Due to recent legislative changes the University of Massachusetts Lowell is not seeking state authorization to offer online programs in those states. State and federal laws require colleges and universities to receive state authorization to offer online programs in states other than their own. Current UML students that move their residence to one of these states should contact Catherine_Hamilton@uml.edu in Online and Continuing Education to determine their eligibility to continue their program of study.
