Program Description:

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a practice doctorate designed to prepare professional nurses for scholarly practice as clinical and health systems experts who will lead and inspire health care improvement and reform, with a focus on family/individual across the lifespan.

Jefferson College of Nursing offers accelerated and traditional Post-BSN tracks for achieving a DNP degree:

Traditional Program

• For BSN graduates who have completed a traditional program
• 69 credits
• Complete in a minimum of four years (starting in the fall semester) up to a maximum of six years

Accelerated Program

• For BSN graduates who have completed an accelerated program including three three-credit graduate level courses:
-- Epidemiology for the health professions
-- Research for advanced practice nursing/research design
-- Informatics for advanced practice nursing
• 60 credits
• Complete in a minimum of three and a half years (starting in the summer semester) up to a maximum of six years
