Distance education, at the K-12 level, in higher education, and in private sector training, is a well-established trend. The Master of Education in Instructional Technology is an Internet-based 39-hour graduate-level program designed for educators and trainers who want to expand their knowledge and become Internet-based instructors, instructional designers, and managers of distance education programs. Through this program, students have the unique opportunity to learn the content of distance education through the process of distance education. With the continuing growth of Internet technologies, distance education opportunities are expanding rapidly. At the same time, more and more schools, colleges, universities, and companies are searching out cost-effective alternatives to traditional campus-based programs, workshops, and training programs that require employees to leave the workplace. This program helps prepare students for work in numerous fields, and individuals may find new career opportunities in K-12 education, continuing education/adult education, community colleges, colleges or universities, military training, instructional design, and corporate training and consulting. A graduate degree in this field positions students for career advancement. Enrollment in the program is limited to ensure a high level of student-to-student and student-to-faculty interaction. Courses are offered over a two-year period, and students will usually take two courses per semester. There are no required face-to-face classes; however, opportunities for face-to-face meetings with faculty members and students will be provided throughout the program.
