MBA Technology Management
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is the most widely awarded and recognized graduate degree in the field of business. The MBA in Technology Management is a degree program that offers a broad and integrative perspective across business functions, and a chance to specialize in a field of the individual’s choice. It also responds to the current needs of the local business community by combining a rigorous study of management topics with a unique focus on technology and innovation management. The program stresses the use of modern techniques to analyze and develop business solutions and prepare students for upper level management jobs. The focus of the coursework is on the use of quantitative and qualitative analyses in conjunction with financial, accounting, and economic principles to solve current and future business challenges.
The MBA curriculum is designed to prepare generalists for corporate management. Our well-qualified graduate faculty and the modern technological infrastructure at SUNYIT provide an ideal learning environment to integrate technology into the rigorous management curriculum. The MBA program accommodates both full-time and part-time students. Full-time students can complete the program in two years. Part-time completion typically takes four years.
The MBA program allows students to concentrate in one of the following areas: accounting & finance, business management, health services management, human resource management, and marketing management.
A Fast Track MBA is also available - this 33 credit hour program is designed for students who have an undergraduate business degree with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher from an accredited business program. Students admitted into the Fast Track MBA will be granted course waivers for five of the core business management courses. The Fast Track option allows qualified full-time MBA students to complete the MBA in one calendar year.
The MBA degree holders can seek careers in a wide variety of areas such as corporate administrators, business entrepreneurs, industry consultants, and government administrative employees. The broad learning scope and advanced professional training in the MBA curriculum make it possible for graduates from this degree program to hold positions in a variety of roles in nearly every industry.

Established by the SUNY Board of Trustees on June 14, 1966, the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome (SUNYIT) is New York’s public institute of technology. SUNYIT students pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in technology and professional studies on the SUNYIT campus - a high-tech learning environment on hundreds of acres minutes from NYS Thruway Exit 31, Utica. Our students come from all over New York, many other states, and more than 20 other nations; a growing number of students also take SUNYIT courses and, in some cases, entire degree programs online.
As part of a substantial expansion in campus infrastructure, a $13 million student center, a $20 million field house and a $23.5 million residence hall were completed in 2011. The next major construction project planned is a technology complex comprising the $27.5 million Center for Advanced Technology and Computer Chip Commercialization Center.
Apart from their excellent academic experience, SUNYIT students enjoy campus life in highly rated residence halls. The campus has three residential complexes: Oriskany Residence Hall for freshmen (completed in 2011), and Mohawk and Adirondack Residence Halls. SUNYIT’s NCAA Division III athletics (men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball; men’s baseball; and women’s softball) and intramurals are complemented by entertainment, activities and community-building experiences that support and sustain a unique campus culture.
Through internships and close cooperation with employers, SUNYIT has extraordinarily high placement rates. More than 22,000 alumni pursue successful careers in communication, computer science, management, nursing, and many other fields.
The Department of Business Management is accredited by AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), an elite distinction achieved by less than 5% of the world’s academic business programs. AACSB is the premier accrediting agency of collegiate business and accounting programs worldwide. SUNYIT is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
International Student Requirements:
To be considered for admission, all applicants to the MBA program must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited
university or college. The Department of Business Management follows the AACSB recommended admission guidelines:
A total of 1,000 points based on 200 x undergraduate GPA + GMAT score. The minimum GMAT score recommended for admission consideration is 450. International applicants mus possess a minimum TOEFL score of 79 on the internet based exam. A GRE score can be substituted for the GMAT score.
