Master's in Transpersonal Psychology
Our two-year Master of Arts in Transpersonal Psychology degree program offers you an exciting opportunity to study the theories and practices of transpersonal psychology, and transformational life coaching, creativity, or spiritual psychology. The 45-unit program is designed for transformative learning, integration of transpersonal and wisdom principles, and personal and professional application.
The hybrid option offers an opportunity for students to learn from home. Learning from home provides students with flexible study time to apply what is learned in their home lives, their current work situations, and in the community where they live.
Seminars: Most students enrolled in hybrid: face-to-face/online programs will attend two in-person seminars each year.
This master’s degree program attracts educators, health care professionals, business leaders, organizational developers, social service providers, therapists, alternative practitioners, entrepreneurs, yoga practitioners, and cultural creatives who wish to find more expansive ways to enhance their current professions or explore and engage in new career possibilities that embrace the principles of transpersonal psychology.
A Graduate Certificate in Transpersonal Studies will be conferred after one year in the program.
Whole-Person, Transformative Learning
Students in our program balance theory with practice, and find authentic ways to study and apply the material. We admit students who have the emotional maturity and discipline to work within a learning community structure that relies upon personal integrity and mutual respect, and who have the self-discipline to study at a distance.
Our approach to learning promotes whole-person, transformative learning. It encourages professional engagement with local or academic communities and appeals to students who find value in creative expression, transpersonal practice, contemplative reflection, and scholarly thinking. Students find community within an academic context and use this learning as a catalyst for transformation within self, community, and profession.
The goals for the program are to:
-- Provide a general background in the theories and practices of transpersonal and spiritual psychology.
-- Provide opportunities for students to cultivate and practice transpersonal qualities throughout daily life.
-- Prepare students to apply theories, principles and practices of transpersonal and spiritual psychology in their personal and professional lives.
-- Guide students to bridge transpersonal and spiritual psychology with theories and practices in their chosen specialization.
-- Provide experiences for students to embody their learning, wisdom, health and wholeness using multiple ways of knowing.
-- Encourage students to appreciate and embrace world wisdom approaches, diversity, and ecological consciousness.
-- Support students’ journey toward professional leadership in service of the broader community.
In addition, students also participate in a Professional Practicum, engage in a yearlong Transpersonal Discipline and Practice, write a Transpersonal Integration Paper and develop a Showcase Portfolio.

Students in this program may also blend professional training with their academic course sequences by incorporating an independent study option.
