M.A. in Liberal Studies: Interdisciplinary work in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural and Physical Sciences.
The Skidmore Master of Arts in Liberal Studies is a customized, flexible MA degree earned through part-time study from anywhere in the world. Collaborating with a Skidmore Faculty Advisor, students create an individualized academic plan focused on their particular areas of interest and designed to achieve their specific objectives. Students typically complete their degree at a distance through a combination of independent studies, in-class courses at universities near their homes, on-line education, supervised internships, and/or study abroad. Through the MALS degree, students advance their careers, start new ones, prepare for Ph.D. programs, or enter professional schools. Each student concentration is unique and all include interdisciplinary study in the liberal arts. Examples include MALS degrees in Arts Administration, Education, Environmental Studies and Sustainability, Cultural Studies, Business and Management, Exercise Science, Public Policy, Philosophy, History, Literature, Gender Studies, Psychology, Religion, Music, Dance, Sociology, etc. For more examples of student concentrations, visit our web site.
The Skidmore MALS Program is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. It is fully authorized by and responsible to The College Faculty and is administered under the jurisdiction of the MALS steering committee, as delegated by the faculty-at-large. Skidmore’s program also holds full membership in the national Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs (AGLSP).
