Certificate: Post Conflict State Reconstruction and Sustainability

Format: Online

Program Description:

The 15-credit online Post-Conflict State Reconstruction and Sustainability Certificate from Seton Hall University provides students a comprehensive foundation for creating sustainable peace in societies emerging from violent conflict. Studies focus on diplomacy and the causes of conflict and examine techniques for avoiding, managing and resolving it. Students graduate with the critical skills and essential field knowledge you need to make a difference in a world of uncertainty and opportunity. In the curriculum, students gain exposure to NGOs to learn how they interact with states how strategies influence policy, and how to assess challenges and opportunities in post-conflict efforts. The interactive curriculum incorporates diplomacy through exercises, discussions, practitioner's lectures, research, field work, webinars and case studies. Students also make connections that matter through the School of Diplomacy's unique alliance with the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) and the United Nations Foundation. The program additionally offers the unique opportunity to learn from a prominent diplomat — the Sergio Vieira de Mello Visiting Chair — through public lectures, class visits, and professional development workshops.
