Program Information

Degrees Offered:

Master of Public Administration

Format: Online

Program Description:

The Master of Public Administration at SHSU is an online graduate program designed to empower those seeking a career in public service as well as those already employed who desire to enhance their current career trajectory. The program prepares professionals for work in government at the local, state, or national level as well as nonprofit organizations.

The MPA offers a concentration in disaster and emergency management. For those seeking this concentration, SHSU's Center for the Study of Disasters and Emergency Management helps build professional connections and establishes a place for students to have feedback from their research or even get it published.

A student may, with the permission of the graduate director, pursue a concentration in other disciplines deemed more relevant to the student’s professional goals.

Our alumni work as directors of county agencies, city managers, directors of nonprofits, and serve in key leadership positions within emergency service agencies. Active-duty military and Foreign Service officers are also represented.

Sam Houston State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees.
