Program Description:

The Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nurse Educator prepares nurses for highly sought roles in both clinical and academic education. Coursework for the MSN is offered fully online and is for the professional adult learner who has already obtained RN licensure and a BSN, and is seeking career advancement. You will be introduced to pedagogical strategies that develop strong critical thinking and analytical skills. You will also expand your knowledge with advanced coursework in physiology, pathophysiology, comprehensive health assessment, nursing education, instruction and learning, and clinical practicum. Graduates of this concentration will be eligible to sit for the National League of Nursing's (NLN) Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam. Presented from a Christian worldview, this program is supported by award-winning faculty who are available to help you online or on campus in Virginia Beach.

    Explore effective ways to educate nurses in the area of health promotion.
    Design, develop, implement and evaluate nursing education focused curricula.
    Work with preceptors as a nurse educator while fulfilling required clinical hours and completing a scholarly research project suitable for publication.

*The asterisks below indicate a clinical course. Clinical courses will require 45 direct contact clinical hours per course. These courses will be 16-week courses as opposed to the 8-week requirement to account for the clinical experience.
