Program Description:

Our graduate programs prepare nurses to work at advanced levels of practice in rural areas. We offer an MS in Nursing in two specialty tracks: Family Nurse Practitioner, and Generalist.

The graduate nursing program is open to qualified applicants who hold a baccalaureate degree in nursing or an associate degree in nursing with a bachelor’s degree in another field. Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • clinical experience in relevant areas of professional nursing
  • a minimum of three to five years of nursing experience (FNP program only)
  • life experience may also be considered

The GRE is not required for admission to the School of Nursing graduate program.


Program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Accreditation. NAU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
