NAU offers the following emphases for an M.A in English: Secondary English Education; Professional Writing; Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies; Literature. The Secondary English Education emphasis provides you with the necessary coursework to earn post-degree certification in English Education so that you may obtain a position as a secondary English/Language Arts teacher. The MA in English - Professional Writing emphasis program helps students develop skills in high demand sorts of writing, such as grants and proposals, reports, procedures, policy statements, and many other types of workplace writing. Students completing this program will be able to enter the workforce as writers, editors, and or team members, working closely with engineers, scientists, healthcare professionals, and finance experts to create professional documents. The MA in English—Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studiesemphasis is committed to providing outstanding graduate education focused on issues and problems that matter in rhetoric and the teaching of writing. The program focuses on providing quality instruction for students who are interested in language, literacy, and learning in contemporary society.
