Master of Education in Reading Specialist

The online Master of Education in Reading challenges educators to extend and enhance their knowledge and skills for literacy instruction by enabling them to become more reflective of their practice in ways that will help all students to learn. These attributes support a constructivist view of reading and literacy skill development with a diagnostic approach to instruction.
Graduates of the Marygrove online Master’s in reading program will be able to perform as highly qualified teachers and leaders of reading and literacy development. Program content and sequence are designed to provide advanced conceptual knowledge on the way toward earning a reading specialist endorsement online.
Graduates who pass the MTTC content area test in Reading are eligible for the BR-Reading Specialist Endorsement in Michigan.

SPECIFIC ONLINE MASTER’S IN READING PROGRAM INFORMATION
Students in the online Master of Education in Reading program will explore issues of gender, ethnicity, multiculturalism and global perspectives, and how the diversity of learners in multiple and varied environments impacts learning. These issues will be examined and addressed through instructional design, varied selection of materials and media, and the use of multiple assessment measures for evaluation of student learning.
