MFA in Writing

Program Description:

Lindenwood University’s online MFA in writing program offers the option for degree customization to suit individual interests by declaring an emphasis or taking courses in multiple genres such as fiction, creative nonfiction, genre fiction, poetry, or novel writing. Prepare for a career as a creative writer, technical writer, grant writer or editor. Graduates may also work in publishing or online media.

In the MFA program, students will generate compelling works of creative writing in areas of their choosing, while also analyzing writing to effectively provide valuable and constructive feedback. Students will work to exhibit fundamental writing skills, including grammar basics, the mechanics of writing, and sentence-level editing.

Through our online MFA in writing program, students will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, literature classes, and craft classes to build skills and receive personalized feedback. Small classes encourage growth in a supportive environment while learning from published writers. While some MFA coursework can be taken on-campus if preferred, there is no residency requirement for our fully online students.

Our online MFA in writing program has been ranked as the No. 2 Best Online Creative Writing Degree Program by three outlets: BestColleges.com, TheBestSchools.org, and OnlineMasters.com.
