Master of Arts in Education
Prepare for diverse educational environments with the online Master of Arts in education program from Lindenwood University. This program allows study in one of three focus areas of specialized knowledge: curriculum and instruction, education and leadership, or designing curriculum for students with dyslexia.
The curriculum and instruction focus strengthens classroom teaching skills. Students can also customize their program by choosing 18 credit hours of education courses. This area offers a graduate degree certificate from the Plaster School of Business or from the School of Education. The Business Leadership Graduate Degree Certificate explores topics that can apply to roles in publishing, corporate training, or educational marketing. The Dyslexia Graduate Degree Certificate prepares students to work with those who need help with reading.
Each focus area will utilize innovative best practices and theories to create a conducive learning environment in multiple settings. The curriculum focuses on understanding the historical, sociological, and philosophical viewpoints of education, as well as the evolving roles of educators. Graduates will become proficient in student development, learning, individual differences, assessment, and motivation.
This program does not lead to a teaching certification, but graduates will further their instructional skills, and may advance their teaching careers. Depending on the concentration, graduates may also enter roles in educational marketing or publishing. Other potential roles include a reading specialist or instructional coach.
