Master of Arts in Early Intervention in Autism & Sensory Impairments

Format: Online

Program Description:

Meet the needs of families with children who have sensory and learning needs with Lindenwood University’s online Master of Arts in early intervention in autism and sensory impairments program. This program trains educators and professionals to work with parents and caregivers of young children who need special attention.

Through our early childhood intervention specialist online degree program, students will explore three areas in autism, deaf/hearing impairment, and vision impairment. The comprehensive curriculum focuses on topics that include the following strategies: working with infants and young children, family-centered practices, communication and collaboration strategies, social-emotional development, evidence-based practices, and designing effective classrooms.

Through the establishment of partnerships with parents and caregivers of young children who have developmental impairments, students will understand the characteristics of young children with developmental delays or who are on the autism spectrum. Through differential diagnostic tools, students will use federal and state regulatory procedures plus best practices to effectively evaluate and provide direct services to families of children with developmental needs.

This program does not provide teacher certification from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
