MSPY - Industrial/Organizational Psychology Specialization
Industrial-organizational psychologists help boost worker productivity and retention rates in a wide range of businesses and, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the field is expected to grow.* Kaplan University’s concentration is geared toward working professionals who want to build their knowledge in an area that is relevant to business today and includes a practicum that allows students to gain hands-on experience in the field. Coursework focuses on organizational management and behavior theories and strategies, workplace motivation and attitudes, training and evaluation, and human resources management to help you pursue a broader range of opportunities.† Practicum and nonpracticum versions of the concentration are available. The practicum is designed to provide students with hands-on, real-world experience within the field.

The professional practice of psychology is regulated by each state, and the degree requirements in this program do not prepare graduates for state licensure. It is important to note that, while earning a master’s degree in psychology may qualify you to work in the helping professions, a doctorate degree is required to become a psychologist and a
medical degree is required to become a psychiatrist. Licensure exams may also be required. Students should research the requirements in the state in which they intend to seek employment.
