Social Justice Education Graduate Certificate

Format: Online

Program Description:

Social Justice Education

The social justice education graduate certificate focuses on the principles of social justice education that promote equitable, sustainable and transformative change in various formal and non-formal educational settings.

The program illustrates how to take theory to practice and collaboratively create meaningful and sustainable changes in communities and workplaces such as neighborhoods, companies, schools, the military and nonprofits.

The primary goal of social justice is to ensure all groups have the opportunity to receive resources equally. The principles of social justice education will help students, including many working professionals in a variety of disciplines, better understand the world around them and issues of inequity that need to be addressed. The social justice education program prepares educators and others to recognize, name and combat inequities in schools, communities and society.

Careers in Social Justice Education

This graduate certificate will provide an interdisciplinary experience that is appropriate for students from a range of academic programs, such as social work, family studies, agricultural education, counseling, advising, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, women's studies and sociology.

Many professionals currently working in service organizations, educational settings and counseling programs will also benefit by adding this learning experience to their knowledge base.
