Doctor of Ministry
The Doctor of Ministry (DMIN) program at Wesley Seminary rotates its emphasis each year. The program is designed to allow working ministers to earn a doctorate in leadership while maintaining their pastoral positions. The program is predominately completed online with two weeks of residential courses each year. The first phase of the DMIN is finished when course work is completed, and the three chapters the student has written for the online courses has been submitted and approved as a project proposal. Students then enter the project phase, where the student and his/her project advisor conduct the study, gather results and draw conclusions. This second part could take as little as a year; however, students have four years to finish it.
In May of 2016, the first DMIN concentration launched with an emphasis in transformational leadership. Led by Dr. Bob Whitesel, the students will meet with world-changing leaders in Atlanta, San Diego and Oxford, England. The next available time to take the transformational leadership concentration will be in 2019.
In June of 2017, the second DMIN concentration will launch with an emphasis in transformational preaching. Led by Dr. Lenny Luchetti, the cohort will visit the Abbey of Gethsemani in New Haven, Kentucky to focus on the formation of the preacher. The students will also travel to England and the Northeast US to meet with prominent pastoral leaders.
In 2018 Dr. Colleen Derr and Dr. John Drury will co-lead a concentration focusing on spiritual formation.
