The hallmark of every notable graduate program is the institution's faculty. This is why the Zarb School takes special pride in its faculty, which is comprised of business practitioners and scholars from outstanding institutions of education throughout the world. The Zarb School, which is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, has gathered an impressive group of 85 full-time faculty and 30 adjunct faculty committed to excellence in business education.
While many institutions of higher education devote senior faculty energies primarily to research, the mission of the Hofstra faculty has always been to be, above all, good teachers who maintain active scholarship, interaction with students, and involvement in the business community. Our faculty possesses both extensive business experience and excellent academic credentials, which allows for a unique blend of theoretical and practical perspectives in their teachings. A publication detailing the biographies of the school's faculty may be obtained from the M.B.A. Office in Weller Hall.
The M.B.A. Program was recently revised to better reflect the actual environment in which contemporary managers must make decisions, often under conditions of uncertainty. Courses in the Hofstra M.B.A. Program expose students to innovative strategies, group interaction, and simulated business situations. The curriculum emphasizes a cross-functional approach to teaching. It also provides an experiential learning component within which students engage in business consulting and corporate internships as a means of refining their managerial skills. Students gain hands-on experience with technology, acquire a perspective on modern and international business practices, and study environmental and ethical factors as they pertain to business, government, and nonprofit institutions.
Tomorrow's business leaders must be able to communicate effectively, possess technological knowledge, understand cultural differences, and exhibit ethics and basic human values in addition to business and entrepreneurial flair. To help foster these skills, the Hofstra faculty employs a variety of instructional methods in and out of the classroom. The Hofstra University M.B.A. Program insists its students receive broad training in functional and managerial aspects in a chosen discipline. While comprehensive, the M.B.A. Program at the Zarb School maintains the flexibility to allow students to tailor their educations to their personal goals.
