Master of Science in Nursing - Nurse-Midwifery (ADN Bridge Entry Option available)
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and a Post-Graduate Certificate are offered in the nurse-midwifery specialty track. In our Community-based Nurse-Midwifery Education Program (CNEP), you will complete your studies either full-time or part-time with your home community serving as your classroom. You’ll also complete a clinical practicum in your community, where you’ll work closely with a Certified Nurse-Midwife. FNU has agreements with preceptor sites across the country and continually adds sites.
Our curriculum has a strong academic and clinical basis. It is unique in that we teach you not only to be a nurse-midwife, but also to be an entrepreneur and a leader in maternal and infant health care. There is also a strong primary care component, preparing you to care for women across the lifespan.
Registered nurses with a BSN or bachelor’s degree (in any field) seeking to become a nurse-midwife will be admitted to the MSN program. When you receive the Master of Science in Nursing degree, you may choose to either continue seamlessly into the 19 credit hour DNP program or end your studies with the MSN. Completing the DNP is highly recommended. For advanced practice nurses already certified as a nurse practitioner who wish to add certification as a nurse-midwife, our Post-Graduate Certificate program may be a good fit.
Students will sit for the certification examination to become a Certified Nurse-Midwife after the MSN degree or Post-Graduate Certificate is conferred. Students are strongly encouraged to seamlessly continue on to complete the DNP. Applicants with an ADN and no bachelor’s degree in any field will apply through the ADN Bridge Entry Option.
