Business Administration, MBA - Emphasis in Advanced Accounting
Colorado Christian University seeks to give students an advantage in the working world by providing excellent education, small class sizes and specialized training. In alignment with these goals, CCU's College of Adult and Graduate Studies has developed an emphasis in Accounting for students working toward their MBA. The MBA in Accounting combines the Christian worldview and business administration background with accounting ethics, accounting research, advanced auditing (accounting information systems within a forensic framework) and advanced tax accounting.

The Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Advanced Accounting is designed to help students who desire to pursue careers in business and accounting, or specifically a certification in Public Accounting (CPA). Therefore, this program is limited to students who have an undergraduate degree and background in accounting. Undergraduate level work counts toward 120 hours of that requirement, and this specific emphasis provides students with a way to meet the required 30 hours on their way to a master’s degree and CPA credentials.

The job outlook for CPAs with graduate degrees is expected to be particularly favorable over the next decade, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. With growing scrutiny of company finances, CPA growth is projected to be much faster than average, especially at a Christian university with a focus on ethical decision making and leadership .For those looking for degrees for CPA certification preparation, an MBA with an emphasis in accounting will help meet the demand for ethical accounting practices while offering broad job opportunities.
Who Should Consider an MBA with an Accounting Emphasis?
Although MBA accounting emphasis students may have many unique backgrounds, students who select a master’s degree in accounting tend to have strong background knowledge in accounting, finance, economics and statistics. CCU's program equips future business and non-profit leaders and managers with a Christian worldview, along with a broad business administration background and technology base.
Students who participate in this program will be prepared to take the CPA exam, and will also have a biblical background that highlights both the benefits of serving with excellence and making ethical decisions to further the Kingdom of God. Graduates from this program will have a unique understanding of how accounting can also be ministry, whether through living above reproach, or knowing how to take their faith into the workplace, as well as the scriptural basis for making good stewardship decisions.
