Program Description:

Enroll in the online Master of Science in Health Information Technology if you have a bachelor’s degree and are currently working in healthcare, technology, healthcare policy, public health, or related fields. The program combines healthcare, business, and information technology to advance your understanding of increasingly complex health care operations.

Health care organizations – from hospitals to senior care facilities to physician offices – depend on information technology to ensure the highest efficiency and productivity. If you desire a leadership role in IT, including collecting, analyzing and organizing health information, consider an MS in Health Information Technology.

You will participate in two, 1-credit hour practicums, providing you with an opportunity to work in a health IT environment under the faculty mentor to create a project. You will obtain the skills needed to use IT as part of the decision-making and critical thinking necessary to work in the health care field. Upon program completion, you will be ready to take certification exams from such organizations as Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Additional Requirements for International Students Canadian and other international applicants must provide a completed Certification of Finances Form. International students who have completed university coursework outside the U.S. and Canada are required to have their transcripts and degrees evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation service such as World Education Services (WES) TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score, IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score, or a CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) score. TOEFL: 79 IBT or 550 PBT IELTS: 6.5 overall CAEL: 70 overall Students from Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa are waived from the language proficiency requirement. Student who completed a 4 year degree (on campus) at a U.S. college/university are waived from the language proficiency requirement.
