M.S. in Health and Human Performance
The MS in Health and Human Performance is a hybrid program, with classes on campus and online, allowing you the flexibility of a virtual classroom along with convenient use of on-campus facilities. Choose a specialty track in cardiac rehabilitation, health promotion, or strength and conditioning. Either way, you will be trained by experts in the field as you acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to further your career as a health professional.
State of the art facilities and equipment enable you to practice stress testing and electrocardiography, use metabolic analyzers to assess aerobic fitness, or use the Bod Pod or underwater weigh tank to measure body composition.
The program includes an option for students to complete two 120-hour internships. These supervised internships provide hands-on experience in real-world settings working with clientele ranging from chronic disease patients all the way to professional athletes. Within the past several years, students have interned with the Buffalo Bills, with strength and conditioning coaches at several colleges locally, and a handful of colleges outside of the Western New York area, health insurance companies, health promotion companies, government organizations, sports performance companies, hospitals, physical therapy offices, and a cancer rehabilitation center. Internship sites do not have to be in Western New York. The thesis option requires students to propose a research project, collect data, and then analyze the data and present the results of their study under the tutelage of an experienced researcher.
The School of Education and Human Services is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
