Our health informatics degree prepares students for management and leadership roles in the healthcare industry. Students who choose this graduate program are often IT professionals pursuing health information management or healthcare professionals pursuing information technology specializations. The U.S. Bureau of Labor reports that employment in healthcare management is expected to grow faster than average and that job prospects are good for those with experience in healthcare systems and in management.
The Master’s in Healthcare Informatics is a 39-credit program that includes a field experience course and culminates in a capstone research course. This informatics in healthcare degree program was designed for working professionals who need to fit course work around their busy life and career responsibilities. Students study part time in the evenings and can complete the program in three calendar years by taking two courses each semester and one course each summer.
Students complete the 27 core program credit requirements through interdisciplinary course work in Adelphi’s Ruth S. Ammon School of Education, College of Nursing and Public Health and Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, as well as University College. The curriculum covers information systems, management, data communications, healthcare systems and quantitative analysis. Students who complete the 21-credit Advanced Certificate in Healthcare Informatics can use those credits toward the completion of this healthcare informatics degree.
