University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
College of Arts and Sciences
M.A.- Germanic Languages, Ph.D.- Germanic Languages
The Department of Germanic Languages at UNC-Chapel Hill offers MA and PhD degrees in German literature; the graduate program in Germanic linguistics has been suspended. In general, at any one time approximately one-third are working toward the MA and two-thirds toward the Ph.D. Our 9 faculty members are considered to be leaders in the field, with research interests that are largely interdisciplinary. Most of our graduate students enter with financial support, in the form of university or departmental fellowships, departmental teaching assistantships, or a variety of non service awards.
