Program Description:

The Global Sport Management (GSM) graduate program is a total immersion cohort model in which students complete their degree requirements in three terms (summer, fall, and spring) in seated classes and through experiential learning or directed research. The 30-credit program is housed at the Charlotte campus, providing easy access for those working and/or living in the Charlotte area.

Students can take advantage of this one-year Master’s Degree program which includes domestic and international travel and extensive networking opportunities on the regional, national, and international
level. International travel will require all students to have a valid passport.

Students will also experience consistent exposure to industry experts and have excellent career prospects as they learn from faculty with real-world experience.

CAREERS
Graduates of the GSM program will be well-positioned in the job market with developed expertise and a professional sport industry network through applied research and experiential learning opportunities, thereby distinguishing themselves from others and preparing them for success. Through experiential learning and travel experiences, students make connections with individuals and organizations, initiating
relationships and leaving lasting impressions. Graduates of the GSM program will work in local, regional, national and international sport settings.

TRAVEL
Each year Global Sport Management students are afforded the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Europe to meet with representatives of sport organizations outside of Charlotte. During their travels, students learn best practices from industry experts engaged in a variety of sport settings. These trips allow students to connect with sport industry professionals while learning how sport is developed and delivered in various sport markets across the United States and in Europe. The American and European sport tours are designed to immerse students in a variety of sport management, marketing, and sport law settings; and to provide students with an understanding of the changing context for sport in a global society. Participants attend lectures from sport executives, conduct student workshops, participate in organized
class discussions as well as activities, and tour sport facilities. During the American and European sport tours, representatives of top national and international sport organizations discuss a wide range of sport management issues.
