The Music Education Graduate Degree Program in the Hayes School of Music of Appalachian State University takes as its mission the practice and propagation of scholarship in music education that develops advanced-level professional music educators. This is accomplished particularly through exemplary educational and experiential preparation, as well as through the research, creative, and service activities of the school’s music education students and faculty. Toward the accomplishment of its mission, the Music Education Program values integrity, collaboration, diversity, inclusiveness, and the continued personal, artistic, and intellectual growth of its faculty and students.
Three concentrations are available: General Music, Band Directing, and Choral Directing
