Master of Arts in Mathematics
This program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a teaching career at the college level. The course of study follows the AMATYC (Association of Mathematics at Two Year Colleges) guidelines, and provides an excellent mix of graduate level mathematics with attention to pedagogy. Students completing this program will have solid foundations in mathematics as well as knowledge of pedagogical issues such as collaborative learning, effective classroom teaching, assessment strategies, and the use of technology in the collegiate classroom.
Master of Arts in Mathematics Education (Secondary)
This program is designed for practicing teachers who are interested in furthering their secondary school teaching careers. The course of study follows the State of North Carolina guidelines for advanced (M) licensure in mathematics, and provides an excellent mix of graduate level mathematics with a focus on pedagogy. Students completing this program will have solid foundations in mathematics as well as knowledge of pedgogical issues such as educational leadership, effective classroom teaching and assessment strategies, and the use of technology in the classroom.
