M.A. in Higher Education;Ed.S. in Higher Education

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The Higher Education Graduate Program provides a pathway to professional employment, advancement, and leadership in a wide variety of careers in community colleges, universities, college transition programs, and community agencies. Although the program was founded in 1968 in response to the growing need for community college and university instructors and administrators in North Carolina postsecondary institutions, it now serves a national and international population of students and professionals concerned with postsecondary education. The program offers three concentrations: Community College and University Leadership; Adult and Developmental Education; and Teaching. There are two degree options in each concentration: Master of Arts (M.A.) Education Specialist (Ed.S.) Note: The Master of Arts in Higher Education is a non-licensure degree and does not lead to North Carolina K-12 teaching, administration, or supervision licensure. The Higher Education Graduate Program offers its degree coursework both on-campus and through ASU's distance education program. On-campus students may enroll full-time or part-time and take classes on weeknights. Off-campus cohorts are formed regularly and engage a consistent group of students in two courses per term. These courses are delivered either face-to-face at a designated off-campus site, through a hybrid approach utilizing ASU's Moodle-based platform and cutting-edge virtual world technology, or, on occasion, completely online. For information about off campus locations see our website.
