Ph.D. - Microbiology and Immunology, M.S. - Microbiology
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology offers a graduate program leading to the Master’s Degree in Microbiology. The goal of this program is to prepare students for scientific careers in many areas of microbiology and immunology.
Research training focuses on the major topics of the research faculty in the department: microbial pathogenesis, molecular genetics, microbial physiology, molecular virology, tumor immunology, cytokines and immune regulation. These research programs provide students with training in the latest experimental approaches in molecular and cellular biology applied to important problems in microbiology, virology and immunology.
The Immunology, Microbiology, and Virology (IMV) Program is designed for students interested in obtaining a Ph.D. in Microbiology & Immunology. As such, the program represents a group of faculty that may mentor a student pursuing thesis research toward the Microbiology & Immunology Ph.D. Students interested in a Ph.D. in Microbiology & Immunology should apply to the IMV Program for admission to graduate studies at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
We offer in-depth coursework and diverse research opportunities that focus on immunology, microbiology and virology.
